Hi,

My situation is currently one Sun server attached to L180 via Fibre SAN, with clients in same subnet as the server....

I need to now backup clients on the other side of a Firewall...

To reduce traffic on the firewall, I was hoping that maybe I could connect another system on the other side of the Firewall to the L180 via the SAN and run backups from there, whilst both servers co-ordinate tape usage and databases across the Firewall etc....

Is this possible, or is there another way to backup clients on the other side of the Firewal ?

Netbackup 5.1 on Solaris.

Cheers,

Paul

Just set-up a Media server on the client side of the firewall, and attach your L180. That should stop the files transferring across your Firewall, though you will still get some traffic to your Master server.
