trapd daemon port config failure

I am trying at the moment to install system monitor Version 2Release 3.1 on the same aix box as the netview program.

All i really want from the mlm is to be able to unlock the Monitor--->System Activity--->CPU Performance options for the routers in my network(is this even possible?).

I realise that you need to bind the trapd daemon to a port other than port 161 as that is the port the Systems Monitor uses. In SMIT, I tryed to reassign the port but the command failed, this was in the output box:
Unable to connect to NetView NMS
Unable to register /usr/OV/lrf/trapd_dm.lrf
