hi, I am doing a project at the moment which involves me to take my desktop tower on the road.

What would you guys recommend for adequate protection of the pc? The case is a sturdy aluminium one, and up until now I have been strapping the pc unit into the front seat of my car (The unit has been fairly well secured).
Are there significant risks with transporting mthe pc like this?

Thank you in advance,

Not unless the airbag deploys. with all joking aside I usually strap it in the back seat with the seat belt. Other than that there really is no way of further protecting it unless you still have the box it came in with the packing material and will be willing to lug the whole box with the computer. I wouldnt stress over the way your doing it, its fine.

When you get to your destination, check that all PCI adapters and your RAM modules are firmly in place before powering the machine.

I would set it on the seat with the motherboard down to reduce the chance of cards comming loose.

I always put it on the floor behind the drivers seat, with a small cushion underneath it.
That way, if you have to brake suddenly there is less chance of the computer flying around.
Or, you can put it on the floor behind the passenger seat and adjust the seat so it hold the computer in tightly.
check all agp and pci cards, ram, and cables before starting up.

Good advice + great people = tek-tips

Are you transporting the monitor also? If so, lay it on it's face, because they are front-heavy and may fall over if stopping fast.

Desktop computers aren't really made to take the bumping and such of transporting. Laptops are rugetized to take the abuse. U are just asking for trouble. The posts make good points to lessen your problems. I like the idea of putting it in the back seat area on the floor with thick foam to sit it on to lessen vibration damage and protect u in a crash. Also the checking of components for loosening.
