Transport Rule Q

We have a staff distribution list to send info to everyone in the organization. I'd like to prefix messages sent to the staff email with something like "[Staff]". Is it appropriate to use a transport rule to do this? I wouldn't want to take a performance hit if not necessary. Also, I would use this for several other lists as well.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.
