Can anyone tell (step-by-step) how I can make an image transparent with PS6?? I'm familiar with 5, but its results isn't so good...
Thanks... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
import your image into a layer..change the opacity on the layer to achieve the look your after....
and if you mean a transparent background do this..import your image to a layer..place a layer underneath your layer..select the area of th pic you want to delete..delete it..magic wand works pretty well for that , or quick mask..then save your image as a gif with transparency or a .png file..
How do I select the area besides using the magic wand?? I tried using that and it'd verry hard, I can't get the entire image selcted, only parts of it...
This is the image that i'm trying to make tranparent...its on my site (its the interface where the HTML pages open)
Actaly i'm trying to make the white behind the actual image tranparent, so that I can have a sleek metalic background behind the interface...does that make sense??
The interface has a white background now, i'm trying to make that white background clear... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
should be pretty simple with the magic wand..just adjust the tolerance level of the wand that way it selects all the white..delete it , save for web, save as a gif or png with transperency..then have your bgcolor=sleek metalic color in your html..what ever that would be..
virt2001, Hi. OK, I tried you're method and still its hard to use the Magic Wand. I think its because my image isn't just one color, but a combination of diff. colors...when I tried to use the wand I get small sections selected, then I would hold down the "shift key" and use the wand again, and by doing that i'm able to select majority of the image but not the entire image...
Kno what I mean? I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
it sound's like you have not adjusted the tolerance of the magic wand tool. The tolerance is listed in a little box in the tool-context window when the magic wand is selected. If the tolerance is at like 5, you will probably select little patches of off-white but set the tolerance to around 30 and you will select anything that is close to white. It's trial and error to get the proper tolerance threshold. Set teh tolerance too high and it will start selecting stuff you didn't want to include.
