Do you think this could work?

I have a clickable link on a map I run on the web (using ASPMap, very good) that opens up a pop-up "Legend" for the map; yields more space for the map if it is done this way and...

...it became obvious that it was nice to be able to move the Legend around the page and, for say, comparing radii on Map features with the Legend, you could better assess conditions on the map.

Then I thought; what would be 'really' ideal in a situation like this would be to have the pop-up Legend Window "transparent" so you could actually "overlay" the Legend features right on top of the Map features.

Thanks for any idea -

My apologies if this is an elementary argument - I am no guru in the html dept...

You would have to use an iframe with a transparent background, I'd say.

Either that, or Flash, or CSS transparency - which isn't 100% perfect in all browsers, but works in most of the big names (IE, FF, Opera, Safari).

Hope this helps,
Dan

Isadore,

You might get away with using a "Spotty" Background, it gives the illusion of about a 50% transparency. Use a 2 rows of 2 Gif Image with the Diagonals being transparent, and the opposite diagonals being a colour of your choice.

Used to a rreeallllyy Cool effect in the css zen design Garden at
But perhaps I don't understand your predicament.

(Although you'd probably still need Iframes to position the Legend) Infact Ignore me, I'm a little Ga Ga at the moment!
