how do I create a transparent layer containing a drop shadow

...need more info to help you with this one...

...is there an existing object you want to apply a drop shadow to?

...is this object already on a transparent layer?

Hi guys,

Ok..I've tried posting this in a few forums with unfortunately no help/answer. I'm working on an animation in CS3, when I try to render the timeline the bar across the top never catches up with its "tail". I seem to get varying result on repeated attempt ie: 1sec,5secs and 9secs being the best.
Its a 10 sec animation and the keyframes are set at the start and the end of the timeline.

Here is a screenshot:

I hope my question is clear enough, and thanks for any help.
