Hi all.
How do I make an image transparent, so that when I change the background color, the image still look ok.
I select Transparent in Paint Shop Pro 8 and save as gif or a jpeg, yet the transparent image becomes white...

I'm guessing I save it as a png file..
I've never used that format before and I was wondering if most, if not all, browsers can display this format ok and have the transparent background....?

you need to save it as a GIF as JPG does not support transparancy.

In PSP goto Colours >> Set Palette Transparancy, select OK and choose "Set the transparmcy value to the current background colour". Click OK and then save as a GIF file.

First off jpegs don't support transparency which explains why you get a white background.

Use the export to gif or png option in the file menu of PSP - this gives you almost like a wizard. Look for the tab that says transparency and make sure that you've set the transparency correctly - I think you want something that says existing layer (I've not a copy here so I'm not certain).

PNG support in IE is a little dodgy so use GIF's unless you need lots of colour information

Great, so I can use Gif's then. Thanks very much :)
