Does anyone know if it's possible to get a transparent gradient in Indesign CS?
I want a box to fade from transparent to color.
I know how to do it in Photoshop and Illustrator, but it would be easyer to do it in Indesign.
I was trying some things after I did the earlier post and cama with an answer after all. Although it is not a very handy way (not so easy to control), but maybe it helps you out.
I created a black to white gradient and placed it over a colorized rectangle.
Afterwards I played with the blending mode in my transparency palette.
Found out that darken created me a kind of tansparency for my white stop color. Playing with the position of the blending mix in the gradient palette I could have the transparency changed.
The trouble is that the color of my underlying rectangle also darkened. It also works with placed pictures.
Hi snupi, just signed up today looking for a solution to the same problem.. carlow seemed to answer it, so far as to say there is no real solution! I think I have found away around the problem though! It worked for me, however I realise it has limitations, anyway enough rambling.. Firstly create a rectangle/box, whatever, with the colour you will be using, then use a feather on the shape with enough width for the gradient. Create another empty shape and cut and paste your feathered object into the empty container. Now use the frame to mask three sides of the feathered object. That's it! solid colour to transparent. Hope it helps!
