Ok, here's the deal. I was emailed a document in wordperfect which I want to change. There are two graphics on there that I want to change (ok the type too but that'd not part of the question). So it turns out that apprently this is all just one big "graphic" as when I try to copy any portion of the document it all copies. That's ok - I just copy the whole thing and paste into photoshop 6.0. Then I copy the first graphic into a new window - play around with it and get rid of the background as I want a transparent background. Works great! Place it into Pagemaker with no problem and it is definately transparent. So I move on to the second graphic which is very similiar to the first. I do exactly the same thing as I did with the first one. No matter what I do or how I save it it will not save the transparent background. Tried both tiff, eps, png, Anyone with any suggestions? I have almost all my graphics with transparent backgrounds and have never had this problem before and am getting very frustrated. I know it is going to be something very simple...but I just can't see it. Many thanks

You haven't saved it as a .gif? That's your best bet for transparency.

For Pagemaker, if you are going to press with this document, then an .eps will work fine for a transparent image. If your photoshop image is on a transparent background, you could use the Transparency Wizard to save it as an eps which you will find in the help menu.

Thanks for the responses. I have about 8 copies of this as an eps...but I don't think I was aware of the transparency wizard you mentioned. Will give that a try. Will let you know how it work. Thanks again.

EPS files often don't appear to have their background transparency when viewed on screen. However, they print just fine. To get on screen transparency, rotate the graphic by a tiny amount e.g. 0.01 of a degree, and it should look OK.
