Hi, i have a .gif image which does NOT have a transparent background. I cant find a step by step answer anyway but what i want to do is make the whole background (Which is white at the moment) transparent. How do i do this in photoshop 7? Please could you tell me step by step, eg, edit - images - etc or point me to a website that does it that way.

Thanks
Jamie

Hi,

You are talking about extraction. You will have to do a combination of things to do a perfect extraction. Some techniuqes are, color range, channels, magic wand, lasso, eraser, etc

There is no absolute way to do this, you have to play around with a variety of different methods depending on what your image looks like.

Hope this helps!

Or the down and dirty way, is to magic wand the areas you want "transparent" (in your case the white part) . Use SHIFT while using the magic wand to select areas tha tare not together.

Go through the Wizard on exporting a Transparent Gif (Still Under Help I believe).
