Hello All:

I'm trying to get an image out of a PowerPoint slide (we can't find the original).

I've been trying to copy it (using the Windows clipboard) and paste it into a new Photoshop 7.0 picture (and then save it as a .GIF), but after I copy it, I can't make the background transparent, so that I can use it on a Web page with a mottled blue background. I've tried using the "Save for Web..." option and selecting the "Transparent" option on that page, to no avail.

Am I trying to "kill a gnat with a cannon" here? Is there an easier way that I'm overlooking? Any suggestions?

TIA,

Bob

After you select "Transparency", use the eyedropper tool and click on the color you need to be transparent. Then, in the Color Table tab on the right hand side, bring up the fly out menu, and select "Map/Unmap selected colors to/from transparent". There's also an icon (a checkered square) below the color table that does the same.

Thanks, blueark! (you saved some of my rapidly thinning hair!)
