transparency when exporting image

How does one make the background transparent in photoshop.
When I imported it into word I could still see white in the background around the pics.

Transparent backgrounds only work when viewed on a computer monitor. To have a transparent background, the image must be saved in a .GIF format. But, exporting to other applications will effectively "remove" the transparancy.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
 
In order to accomplish this you will have to save your image as a GIF89 file. The easiest way to do this is to use the:

help->Export transparent image (PS7)

scr_ps7.jpg


If you have an older version I believe you can "export" the image to a GIF file.
