Hi guys,
Todays the day when my brains gone on holiday, and I need to output a 2colour PDF with Transparency, to send to the printer.

So here's my question...

If I make the PS File with "Leave colour unchanged" tranie flattener on "High" and Level 3 binary. And I run it through Distiler 6 "compatibility PDF 1.5.

How come when I view it in Acrobat I get weird stuff happening, but when I check the "Overprint Preview" or "Separation Preview" It looks as it is suppose too?

Hmmmm, sorry no help here either.

Acrobat has done lots of kooky things to files with transparency over the years. It is a mysterious beast.

You didn't mention version . .

How does the file look in: Advanced, Flattener Preview?

Have you tried the adjustments this window offers?

Sorry Acrobat 6
It looks crap, it has a white border around the transparency. But when I view it in Overprint Preview it looks as it should.

Now my gripe is Why can't it sense there is a transparency used so it should change the view automaticlly.

so know I have to explain why it looks crap in one view and ok in another, which makes my client nervous

Marcus

The Acrobat file actually can't handle the transparency issue at Print time. It Flattens the layers at that time. So, when you print it chooses the flattening level automatically - unless you use this window to adjust it.

You may have better luck using the authoring program to flatten before you turn it into a pdf. . .

Hope this makes sense.
