Hi,

I'm having a problem with transparency in InDesign (not unique but I haven't been able to fix it). I have a few tiffs (logos) saved with transparent backgrounds. They look fine in InDesign & when I print.

However, as a PDF they all have white boxes.
I exported as "compatible: Acrobat 4(PDF1.3)
I can't find what settings to adjust...

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jessica

WindowsXP, InDesign CS

Try PDF compatible with Acrobat 5 (or 6) and see if the helps. 4 is kind of weak on transparency.

You might also go to Edit Menu/Tranparancy Flattener and select High

I know what you are going through..this absolutely sucks! I've tried everything with no results. I ended up drawing my own drop shadow from photoshop and putting it in..but still can't get the same effect. If you find a solution, let me know. My company will love you forever and ever!

Are you mixing spot colors or varied color modes (RGB with CMYK) with your transparency effects? This is where trouble comes in.

If you wrangle the transparency effects properly, there should be no need to do this effect in Photoshop.

Thats exactly what I needed to do. Thank you very much!!

dog352-- i know, i feel your pain (its sucks to be out of ideas and just not have it solved...). Changing the pdf compatibility did it for me. A coworker of mine was able to get around a transparency speedbump by adjusting something with the tiff before he exported from photoshop. Have you looked into that route yet?
