Transparancies over black for printing

Lately when I place a tiff file w/ a transparent background over a black box, the area where the transparancy is prints a darker black than the rest of the page. Does anyone know what may cause this?

Select the image with the white pointer tool. Go to Object>Clipping Path and see if the object wrap has been applied (either with 'detect edges' if there is no path, or the name of the path if there is one).
