I'm having intermittant problems connecting to an IBM F40 using AIX 4.3. Running errpt has recently returned a Transmit Failure. Does this mean a new network card, if so what keeps killing it!

Thanks

Most likely you have the NIC's set to auto-negotiate. Check with your network dude and confirm the duplex and speed setting of the switch your connecting to. Very often older routing equipment cannot deal with Auto Negotiate. A setting of 100/full duplex is the most common but you will need to confirm that.
