I have a customer who is planning to deploy a Multi-Tech
Fax server that routes via DTMF/DID digits. They currently don't have a DID matching range on the PRI for routing and don't really need it. (It's next to impossible to get good ranges from Bellsouth in this area) They use 2 ported numbers for all incomming via translation tables. I have a single block of numbers (20) of which I can translate 14 for routing faxes. My question is does the system treat translated numbers the same as matching DID's for routing purposes.

Please view the document link below before posting comments
about Fax routing in the Magix/Legend. If it truly works it explains alot.

Sys = Legend Rel7 V12

BTW Here is a link to the Multi-Tech integration document for Magix/Legend. Might come in handy for others.

Thanks and
Have a Great Day

Please clarify who "they" is and what numbers are being ported, or is your definition of number portability different than mine?

Also one of the Multitech documents on the link above has some erroneous info. PRI and Wink-start do not work on the same facility and are not related.

I did the Legend programming for one of these earlier this year. The customer's IT Guy did the Excahange Server end.

Basically all he said he did was to map a D-I-D number to a given EMAIL Address.

I watched him do that, and it was quite easy.

Of course, from a few months ago, there's no way I can remember all the details.

Thanks merlinman.
Good to know that it works.

I'm going to attempt to use a few translated numbers temporarily to route the faxes while I look for new DID blocks for this customer.

Do you remember if you where using a 3 or 4 digit DID block/Numbering Plan?

The Multi-Tech document refers to 4 digit only

I just checked my records of this client, they are 4 digits, but I would think 3 would work also.

The easiest way to set up the Faxfinder is to use adjuncts and set these use to match your DID numbers 2, 3 or 4 digit does not matter how many digits they are. Setup a calling group as a generic VM include the to T/R port extensions numbers as Members of that Calling group. Set up a cover group for that calling group and include all of the adjuncts that you setup for your DID numbers. In the setup menu for the FaxFinder setup the user with their E-mail Address and the 2,3 or 4 digit DID you gave them. When some one sends a fax to that DID number it will then follow thru and e-mail this to the user.
