transitions wont work! help! thnx

none of the transition i put in will work.. The transition always puts an x in the upper right corner of the screen rather than play the transition... if anyone can help with this problem at all it would be greatly appreciated. i do have quicktime and directx installed properly. Thanx in advance.

I assume the problem is when you play preview, not on movie export. What you need to do is create a preview of the transition. position the work area marker (yellow bar at top of timeline) so it covers the transition. (few frames before and few frames after). Then hit ENTER. a progress bar will appear showing preview creation progress. when complete, it will play from start of work area with transition. that will remain until you make changes to that area.

Another way to quickly preview the transition is to hold down the ALT key as you slide the timeline. This will give you a quick preview of the transition.
