I am looking to create an image of a house that fades into an image of 2 people shaking hands.

So I would want to fade the house (with a blue tint) into the couple shaking hands (also tinted blue)

Any idea how I would do this? I've been using Photoshop for years, but all my experience is OJT.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You will want to use a layer mask. Check out how to use them here: faq229-1962

Hope this helps!

BWT - what does OJT mean?

How would I do this

I would want the house to fade out like this image is showing and at the end of the banner be 2 people shaking hands. Is that a layer mask? If it is I have no idea how to get that transition look from one image to the next.

Hi,

Yes that is a layer mask.

That image you show there is simply 2 layers: the bottom layer is plain green, the second layer above it is the house. A layer mask is applied to the house and the gradient is used from left to right to get the house to fade out like that.

For your hand shaking thing you apply the layer mask to the top layer of the 2. Either image can be the top layer, you will just have to experiemtn with what you like that best and what looks good. Also keep in mind when doing layer masks the distance you drag with the gradient and where you start and end the mask. Don't forget that after applying a gradient, you can unlink the mask from the layer and position the mask after that until the desired effect is acheived.

Let me know if you need more assistance.

Hope this helps!
