MY
hai, I've this problem where I'm running Domino Mail server R5which is perfectly running well currently. I've another mail server which is running on Linux 7.1. This linux is basically we're hosting for one of our customer. The problem is whenever I send a mail to this domain, the mail bounces back, saying failed to deliver due to network transient error. In my dns server I've specified exactly how my company's mail address records for this linux server as well. I tried all sorts of ways, but its not working as well. Can someone help me out here. TQ.

I would try and rule out delivery. I am going to assume your using SMTP between the two boxes, so try the following:

- open a command prompt from your Windows Domaino box and simulate an SMTP connection
- Windows, Start, Run, CMD, ENTER
- telnet x.x.x.x 25 <--- x.x.x.x IP address of your Linux box
- HELO ENTER
- MAIL FROM:test@test.com ENTER <--- change to the email address your having problems sending from
- RCPT TP:test@test.com ENTER <--- change to the email address your having problems sending to
- DATA ENTER
- THIS IS A TEST
- . ENTER <-- ENTER PERIOD ON LINE BY ITSELF

This should send a message using local lookup and delivery. If this works, the domain, sender and receiver are OK on your Linux box. Next try NSLOOKUP from your Domino box.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Transient errors are often caused by firewalls.

If this is the case check if your firewall uses a proxied SMTP service, and if so: remove it and replace with a normal service on port 25.

See what happens then.
