I've installed Cognos PowerPlay 6.5 on Windows 2000 with no errors.
I've copied a model and queries from Windows NT box with PowerPlay 6.5 on it.
I'm able to open the model and edit it.
When I try to create a cube it checks columns, initialized categories (4600), but gives error right after it

Transformer has generated errors and is going to be closed. The error log is being created

When I try to resume the process, the info is:
(TR3419) Transformer was stopped in the process of CREATEFILES.
Do you wish to continue?

Any ideas what might cause the error?

Thanks,
zv

Check that there is no conflict between the two settings. For example, if the Local Data Source setting is a relative path, it will attach to the Data Source path and the resulting path must be valid.

Check Impromptu .iqd's in the new version?

Does great outdoors work?

Hi CP,
thank you for helping me with this.
I'm relatively new to Cognos and inherited it from somebody who has left already.
That might explain my following questions:
- if two cognos.ini files look exactly alike, does it mean that there is no conflict between settings?
- all *.iqd are the same and backend source has not been changed
- what is "great outdoors" and how to check if it works?

I'll appreciate any help and reference to the appropriate documents.
Thanks,
zv

No. This should not have you looking at the .ini files.

When I said conflict between settings, I meant the .iqd paths designated in the .mdl file. Right click on each data source in the .mdl file and be sure the file path name is correct for each by hitting "Modify Columns"

The Great Outdoors DB has the Cognos Sample everything that comes with the product. You can find it in the C:\Program Files\cer2\samples\PowerPlay\Discovering Transformer\

Try to find out more about how the files work by using the Great Outdoors database located in The Cognos directories. If you don't know of the Great Outdoors, that means you have never used cognos, and will probably be struggling for a while until you do a class or read most of the help files in the Documentation that comes with the product.
