Transform from diff data source if first one is down

Hello,

I am looking for a way to test if my "primary" connection is down and if it is run my package from a different "backup" data source that has all the same tables and data. Is there an easy way to test if the "primary" DB is down?

Use a ssql query task to do a simple select on one of the tables in the primary connection.
Use the workflow to branch to the actual processing on this connection if successful, otherwise branch to the task on a secondary connection.
