I am trying to epxport a table in access to a comma deliminated file. I dont want the text fields to be encompassed within parenthasis (eg "TextHere","text2Here"). This is an option that can be set when manually exporting through access, but not through the docmd.outputText function in VBA.

The helpfile for the function mentions that the second argument is to set a specification for the output. I assume this will let me remove the "'s. sadly the Acess help file does not go into any more detail about what a specification file is or how to use one.

if anyone can help me i would be appreciated.

my current line of code is:
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, , "tblExportData", "Contacts.txt", False

Relatively simple.

Right click on the table for which you want to build the export spec. Click on “export”. Follow the instructions. Build your spec file. Clicking the advanced tab will allow you to save your export spec with a name. That is the name you will use in the transfer text method.
