Transferring to DN

Just wondering if this is by design or possible to change.

Our receptionist has a sidecar setup with line monitoring for everyone in the office. She wants to be able to transfer calls to us by pressing the transfer button and then our line, but that doesnt work. If we switch the buttons on the phone to speed dials, it works fine.

Is there a way around that? To be able to do line monitoring and use the button for transferring?

Not on the 7914 that I know of. It's an either/or case. Depending on how many buttons you're using you would need to set up 2 buttons per monitored line, one as a line appearance and 1 as a Speed dial.
Attendant Console would be your best solution. The receptionist can see the line state of all phones and as an incoming call arrives they can drag and drop transfer the call or send it directly to VMail if the line is busy.
