The motherboard on our Audix box got fried. We got a new box and some technical help to get the integration to the Merlin System going. When an employee used to call in and asked to be transferred into VM, we could hit TRANSFER then key 199. The "Group" for VM is 770. They can get into it by calling back and selecting 5 from the Menu, but we can't get 199 ext. setup properly to put someone into VM using the TRANSFER button. Any suggestions?

If this is a Legend or Magix, try pressing TRNSFR, then dial #56 followed by the user's extension number then hang up or press TRNSFR again.

#56 will work without pressing transfer if it is programmed to a button as *56.

when you have an active call, you need to press transfer, then dial #56 + ext to direct VM.

Why not just transfer the person to 770 if the goal is letting them check their messages?

Well, not to get into an argument or anything, but if I go off hook on an intercom button on my MAGIX R4, and dial #56, the display then says:

"Send voice mail to...

I read the original post as people calling in to receptionist to check messages remotely.

I was just clarifying how to transfer a call into a mailbox.

But you are absolutely correct that sa + #56 will allow you to leave a message in a persons mailbox.

as I'm reading everyone's responses, I realize I wasn't as clear as I could've been. photon33 is absolutely correct in what I was trying to get answers on. When an employee calls in to work and talks to another employee then wants to check his messages, we used to be able to hit TRANSFER then 199 to allow the outside caller access to audix & to check their messages. TRANSFER 770 does not work, probably because 770 is setup as a Group#, I guess. We can't get 199 setup properly to put someone into the Audix system so that they can check their messages. Currently, they have to call back on the number for the automated attendant then select option 5 from the menu to access audix to get their messages. thanks for all responses so far, though.

If you do the transfer #56, tell your employees to press *7 to get to Audix main menu.
But if you are really attached to 199 then check this out:

Do you get any voicemail prompt when you call Ext 199? Like "Please Wait"
If so get to Audix command line issue "li aa"
Make a note of mailbox number attached to "Day AA"
issue "ch aut att" or press help to get to change auto att. routing table.
add an entry for called number 199 set bus1 for schedule and day & night mailbox field should be the "Day AA" mailbox number you wrote down earlier.
This will give you back 199 and affect nothing else.

thank you photon33, i will try this & see where we get with it. i'll let you know.

when doing the TRANSFER *56 to anyone's extension with VM, the *7 works just fine - never knew you could do that. i tried the "li aa" command and i get the message that "aa" is invalid. I went through all of the available choices and nothing showed at all with "Day AA". Now, since we got the box, we've been logging on with the "craft" profile. when one of my co-workers tried to change the "sa" profile password, he was unsuccessful. maybe that's the profile i need to logon as - i don't know. any additional help would be appreciated, but doing a Direct VM to someone's extension then having the outside caller press *7 will still work. thanks!

some additional information: when 199 is dialed, audix says "Attendant service not available. Try again later." When i was going through the List Choices earlier, i did see that 199 is showing as an attendant. just can't get that "li aa" command to work to see the "Day AA" value.

Day AA" would just be the name the technician gave it.
It could vary on whatever they felt like calling the new AA.

I believe what you are looking for is actually in the audix.
Make sure "199" is not assigned as an AA or mailbox, if it is, delete it.

From the main menu select Audix Administration
Type " ch auto rou"
Tab to the next spare line
Under 'Incoming Called Number' enter "199"
Tab to 'Business Schedule' enter "login"
Press "Enter" [F3]

In the Merlin, make sure "199" is programmed to go to voicemail.

If all goes well, when someone calls or transfers a call to "199" they will get the login prompt.
