We are on a Merlin Legend...release 6.0 or 7.0. I'm having a problem when the operator transfers a caller offsite. I've actually had this happen to me. She has the caller on line, presses transfer dials the number to be transferred to, when she completes the transfer, there is a high pitch shreek on the line and you are forced to hangup and dial back. I have 3 Merlins in other places and this problem doesn't exist. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is it on every line or just certain lines?
I know that sometimes you need to put 185A attenuators on th c.o.'s to eliminate squeeling during conference calls.

1043 is right on.

DO you have UNIQUE ID's on your lines, or all of them labeled OUTSIDE?

If they are labeled OUTSIDE, change them to the LINE NUMBER (801, 802, etc.) and then if the problem happens, you can at least identify which line (or lines) are causing the problem.

I suspect an IMPEDENCE MIS MATCH.

- - That's a techie term meaning they don't like to be connected....

The lines are labeled with the actual number, but what she's telling me is when she hits the transfer key, ORIG SYS shows up on the display, so I'm not sure which line is causing the problem. Where do I get the 185A attenuators and at what point to you install them. Are they modular adapters that go in between the jumpers.

185A Attentuators:
Avaya COMCODE: 100331461

I called avaya today and they're telling me if I replace the card, it will resolve the problem. System is still under maintenance, so I'll be trying this avenue. I have taken note of the comcode for the Attentuators. Thanks for all the suggestions, each one is valuable.

cvrbob, Are Attentuators also called loop current regulators? Please advise. Thanks.

Thank you. I had avaya come out and they're telling me that the processor needs to be replaced. It's covered under warranty so no big deal, but should I pick up the regulators as well?

can you do a loop current test to see if your lines need attenuators, sandman has a cheap testers or read his tech sheet on how to test

Well, just let them replace the processor, BUT DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE UNTIL YOU TEST EVERYTING ! !

In all my experience, I have seen FEW processors fail.

They either work or they don't.

Be very very careful that your problem gets resolved.

BUT, since it's under warranty.....
