Hello,

Iam trying to transfer all the DTS pkgs from Old server to the new server. I managed to copy the contents of msdb..sysdtspackages to the new server and I could see the DTS packages in the new server. All the associated databases have also been copied. Now, the tasks and connections of the copied DTS Pkgs are still pointing to the old server. There are around 75 DTS Packages. Is there any easy way to change the connections and tasks and make it point to the new server?

Thanks.

Thanks a lot.
I just downloaded DTSBackup 2000 and it seems to be quite useful for transferring DTS Pkgs between servers :) But my problem still remains unresolved :-( . Iam looking for an easy way to change the values of the connection objects inside the DTS Packages after transferring(so that they point to the new server). Is there any simple way to do this?

Thanks.

It may be a bit late for your current situation but one method to make the changing of connection objects less difficult is to not use SQL connections within your dts packages, but to use UDL files. Create your UDL files that have the connection info then use the Microsoft Data Link object for your DTS connections and map them to the relevant UDLs. When moving a dts package to another location it's just a matter of also moving the udls and updating the connection info for the current enviroment.

Thanks a lot for the valuable replies!

Using the UDL file is a good tip. I shall definitely use this in my future work.

Regarding the DTSBackup, I checked it many times..but the connections are not getting changed! Iam using the DTSBackup2000UI.exe for transferring the Pkgs. Iam afraid if this is the right one.

Thanks!
