Had a problem under the existing profile that I couldn't solve, so I created new profile and new email acc'ts. All work fine. I have my contacts, calendar, and email folders intact under the new profile.

Custom settings for shortcut bars and headings in various folders were, of course, restored to default settings under the new profile.

Is there a way to transfer the custom settings from the first profile to the second? I'd like to avoid going through all those folders and re-customizing each one. Thanks.

The files you need are the .fav (Outlook bar), .nk2 (nickname cache), and .rwz (rules). They are normally located at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\outlook.

If you can't find them there then do a search for those extensions. Make sure that you show hidden files and folders.

Generally I don't copy over the nickname cache if I'm having a problem with a profile. It can be corrupt and part of the problem with the original profile. It really doesn't take much time for it to recreate itself.

Cheers.

Thank you. The .fav files are in the same directory. The one for the original profile is Outlook.fav. The other is NewProfile.fav.

I tried deleting NewProfile.fav, copying and renaming Outlook.fav as NewProfile.fav. That restored by shortcut menu as before.

Now, is there a way to restore the other custom settings (folder fonts, headers, fields, etc.)?
