We have a Definity PBX, 8410D phones. When line 1 of a phone is being used, and call comes in on second line, we can not transfer the caller from the second line to anywhere (e.g. to another extension or voicemail)

The same applies if a manager is on Line 1 of their phone, a call comes in on the second line, and their secretary picks it up; the secretary can not transfer the caller.

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks

You should also add a 3rd call appearance. Since the first call appearance is in use, the second call appearance is then used for the incoming call, you will need a 3rd call appearance to transfer/forward the call on the 2nd call appearance.

One other point to note, if you want to transfer an incoming trunk call to another external trunk call, then you'll need to change the trunk and look for the disconnect supervision parameter and change this to Y.

This is a security risk according to a lot of people, but some people view it as a legitimate business process.

You're choice.
