Hi Guys,

We have a customer that has come from a centrex system. Our company has installed a BCM 50 r2 for them. They have 10 users.
The problem they have is the number of steps required to transfer a call to an external speed dial.

The steps they currently need to take on the BCM 50 are:
1. Answer incoming call
2. Place call on hold.
3. Hit speed dial key and enter speed dial location
4. Hit the transfer key
5. Hit the original callers line key.
6. Hang up.

What they would like to do is:
1. Answer incoming call
2. Hit transfer key
3. Hit speed dial key and enter speed dial location
4. Hang up.

Is this at all possible?
You cannot transfer directly to a speed dial. Why? This is crap and such a backward step for a new PABX. I know this works on a Option 11 and many other PABX's.

Would IP View console be able to drag and drop a call to a speed dial?

Any other solutions or suggestions.

Please help. Your thoughts are much appreciated.

First of all dude is I would change your name, man what were you thinking.
If they are centrex why not use the centrex features by using the link feature.
Answer a call press link then press the speeddial then link again and hang up.The way they doing it now uses a incoming line and a outgoing line. With centrex it uses 1 line then after the last link it's gone. Link is feature 71.

I agree man, change your name. Wow!
You cannot access Transfer and then try to access Speed Dial. It will not let you do it. Link Transfer is the best option. Also, this is not a PBX this is a Hybrid system. You will not get all of the PBX features on a BCM.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Whats wrong with the name?? It's only a bit of humor. Back to the real reason of this post.

The customer use to be on centrex. They now have BRI on the BCM. If they were to get centrex on BRI would using the link feature work?

Although the system is hybrid it is a basic function of any PABX, telephone system or hybrid system. The Avaya IP Office is hybrid and you can transfer to a speed dial on that. It even works on the Inter-tel and Cisco Call Manager....the list goes on.

When someone is used to transfering to a speed dial in any system using a few steps then coming new technology on the BCM and you can't do it, it's a big let down. They seem to have taken a step backwards.
I can see the system being taken in and replaced.

I don't know about your Option 11C, but on mine when I hit Transfer the Speeddial button disappears on a 3904 set..
