I am trying to create a cover path for my fax machines so that if the machine doesn't answer, it rolls over to a fax extension in my Intuity.

I have the Intuity setup to receive and on the Definity,I have the fax extension setup but with an x in the port and the standard roll to voicemail cover path. When dialed directly, it works perfectly.

When I create a cover path that will roll to the Intuity fax extension, it simply rings forever. I suspect it has something to do with the x port and it's hitting the extension and ringing it on the Definity rather than following that cover path and rolling into vmail.

My question is what do I put into the cover path as an extension when I want it to go directly to the fax extension within the voicemail system?

For your fax machines, give them a cover path that leads DIRECTLY to voice mail. (don't have it lead to another extension that has a cover path to voice mail. The pbx will not 'double cover')In the voice mail make a subscriber with the fax machine extension.

Do you have vectors you could use to do this?

You should setup a Hunt group.

In the future everything will work...
