Trying to get an incoming call to transfer to outside number on old 8x24 ds phone system.i know i have to allow line redirect on all extensions and allow ds on all lines.Dont know if system is capable of doing it without vm getting different answers please help

824 can not do the transfer on it's own.

Although Line redirect will redirect all calls on a line.

You can "manually" transfer an incoming call to an external number, but the line must have Disconnect Supervision.
You can "Redirect" an incoming call to an external number.
You cannot call forward an incoming call to an external number.
External Call Forward debuted in MICS4.1.

As SupportDude said, on the 8x24, you can manually transfer a call to an external number:
[ol 1]
[li]Make sure you have an incoming call active.[/li]
[li]Press Feature 70, the TRANSFER softkey or a Transfer button.[/li]
[li]Press a line button, press a line pool button or dial a line pool access code.[/li]
[li]Dial the number where you want to transfer the call.[/li]
[li]Press the Rls button, the JOIN softkey or hand up.[/li]
[li]The display shows "Call transferred".[/li]
[/ol]

You can also use the Unsupervised Conference feature to transfer a call:
[ol 1]
[li]Put the incoming call on hold.[/li]
[li]Make the call to the external number where you want to transfer the call.[/li]
[li]Press Feature 3 or the Conf/Transf button.[/li]
[li]Press the held line button.[/li]
[li]Press Feature 70 or the TRANSFER softkey.[/li]
[li]The display shows "Call transferred".[/li]
[/ol]

Those features are available on the latest releases of the software (such as DR 5.1). They didn't exist on the oldest releases of the software (such as DR 1). If you have an old release, you can put a conference on hold: the two parties will hear each other and Disconnect Supervision will take care of releasing the lines:
[ol 1]
[li]Put the incoming call on hold.[/li]
[li]Make the call to the external number where you want to transfer the call.[/li]
[li]Press Feature 3 or the Conf/Transf button.[/li]
[li]Press the held line button.[/li]
[li]Press the Hold button.[/li]
[li]Wait until the lines are released.[/li]
[/ol]

The Allow Redirect setting applies only to Line Redirection, so you shouldn't have to worry about it. Disconnect Supervision must be turned on, though.
