I've asked this question awhile back and didn't get an answer that would work. I'm going to tell what I'd like to do and tell me if i'm smoking to much grass.

I've telneted into my BCM from my laptop and i'm on the

D:\Data Files\Nortel Networks\Voip Gateway and I want to send a file from my laptop to this Directory, can this be done and if so how. I have tried a few way suggested by my letwork people, but none of them work.

Thanks

Did you try using xmodem/ y modem ... or one of the data transfer protocols?
<I've not tried on a BCM, but it works on the M1s>

telnet (like hte ones on Windows) cannot transfer a file - you'll need ftp, tftp ...

Can't use xmodem to my knowledge.

Enable the FTP server on the BCM. FTP the file to the BCM. When it's copied, go to the command line of the BCM, and type copy E:\ftproot\filename d:\data files\nortel networks\Voip Gateway\filename

Filename would obviously be the name of the file you're copying.

OK biv343 how do I FTP the file to the BCM after I enable the FTP server? I'm connected to the BCM by LAN

Use internet explorer, enter ftp://ipaddressofbcm

Use your BCM username/password

Right click the file you want to copy, paste it into IE. Good to go.

ftp://10.10.10.1 and I get windows cannot access the folder.
Make sure you have typed the file name right and that you have permission to access the folder.

What am I doing wrong?

I.E is flaky sometimes for FTP. You could try a FTP client like Ace FTP Freeware (no pun intended) or WS FTP.

Or go to a dos prompt and do this:

change to the directory on your PC that has the file.

type ftp 10.10.10.1

User (10.10.10.1:(none)): supervisor
331 Password required for supervisor.
Password: whateveryourpasswordis

at the ftp> prompt, type put c:\directory\filename

Directory would be the directory the file lives in, filename is the name of the file

That's it. Type bye to exit.

Or, use a FTP client for a handy GUI interface

Here's a link to the Ace FTP Software

I tried ftp://10.10.10.1 again today and it worked.

Thanks biv343
