Hello, I am farely new to the server environment. I will like to know if any of you has some information on how to transfer dns, dhcp, and all that good stuff from one server to a new one. I will really appreciate any help.

Hello-

DHCP:

Fairly simple. Look at your new server and note the scope, DNS settings within that scope, reservations and exclusions. Install DHCP on new server and mimic those settings.

DNS:

This is a little trickier. Your best bet would be to bring the new server on the domain, install DNS, and promote it to domain controller (I am assuming you want this because there would be no real reason to have DNS/DHCP on a non-DC). Once it is a DC the DNS settings should propogate to the new server at the next replication cycle.

Other Items:

I am also assuming you are replacing your current DC with a new one. If you plan on chucking your old server then i suggest you look at the MS Knowledge Base article below, before you do anything, so that you dont hose your whole domain.

Have a thorough understanding of the above article because it is super important.

IF you are stuck on any portion or the DC transfer I would seriously consider enlisting some outside assistance. It is not an easy task to someone who is new in server environments and you can really mess stuff up if you don't nail the transfer perfectly.
