I am new to the web design business and need a question answered. Currently I have a free website on tripod.com and I would like to know if it is possible to transfer the site to another hosting company. Also if I transferred the site would it look exactly the same as it did on tripod. The reason I am asking is because I am inexperienced with html and I used tripod's instant website tools. Any info anyone could give is very appreciated.

Thanx

It all depends on how much you control now. Best and first thing to do is back up all web pages and files. If Tripod had a domain name registered for you, you need to involve both them and the new company in transferring it. There's usually a fee for this. You'll probably be responsible for uploading all the files to the new site.

some hosts also have Microsoft Front Page installed.
you may have to do some tweaking to get it to look the same.
not familiar with tripod, so I can't say for sure.
