I would like to take data arranged in rows (records) and fields in one data sheet, and use it in single wrapped cells in another date sheet, by using a formula and a link. For example, the source data sheet rows have fields of Name, Address, Phone number. I would like to be able to reference this data in another worksheet so the target worksheet shows the same data in a column of single cells wrapped like a mailing label - formated with Name (alt+enter as hard return), Address (hard return) and phone number. I thought I might be able to do this by refering to the source cell using Concatenate in the target cell, and then inserting a hard return after each source field cell number(in the formula bar), but this doesn't work. Is there a way to do this?

As I recall, there is no way to enter a hard return within a formula.

What I can't figure out is why you would be wrapping like this in Excel in the first place. If you're going to link, why not just make it a mailmerge in Word?

Lemme know if you want some help with that or different ideas on how to handle it. No offense, but yours sounds like the hard way.

This might work for you. Using :
B2=Name, C2=Address, D2=Phone

In another cell, enter the formula :
=+B2&CHAR(10)&C2&CHAR(10)&D2

You will need to set the cell to wrap, align vertical center, and adjust the height and width quite a bit, but it should work.

Oh my gosh. I must be showing my age here!

Char(10) is the line feed character.

Back in ummmmmm . . . a number of years ago, codes sometimes had to be added to get printing to come out correctly or forms to be displayed on VT100 terminals.

Unfortunately, only obscure things stick in the mind anymore.

Thanks! This works! And yes, I suppose it does sound like I'm doing something for which a truly Office-Proficient person would use a little of both Word and Excel, but based on how the data was given to me, how I need to share it, and the fact that I'm lousy at Word but fairly good at Excel, I was hoping to keep the data records and the lists to be made from it in a single excel file if possible. Thanks both of you for your time, especially to JV for the "&char10" thing, which I never would have found otherwise.

Yes, I meant addictive.
Misspelling a word in the punch line!
Hate when that happens.

:)

No worries. Nice to read feedback, always ! Even better than those little purple star thingys.
