Example:
Customer calls in and gets AA greeting instructing them to enter a # 1 through 4. They choose number 2 which is extension 10, if no one answers they go to VM. If they need to speak with someone they press the 0. The system transfers them back to extension 10 and then VM. The customer wants to have the transfer proceed to extension 16 without VM. How would I go about programming that? The VM extensions 78, 79 and 10 have a transfer-return extension (#306) of 16. Is that because the Call Answer Service Operator is Ext. 10?

Related settings:
#310 Auto VMS Cover- 10 Assigned; 16 Not Assigned

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

You have Partner Voice Messaging PC Card Mail. The Operator is Ext. 10, and can't be changed. There is also no Personal Operator available.

To transfer from mailbox 10 to Ext. 16, the caller must dial *816# - not very user friendly.

You would also need to set your Transfer Return Rings to 0 (disabled).

Try this

set up that selector code to transfer to a calling group.

Set the calling group to have X 16, and x10 in it if you want both to ring. If they do not answer, it should not go back to a VM box. I think it will go back to the AA. You can then set up a selector code to go to VM, if they want to leave a message. Or if they press zero it should go to ext 10 followed by x10 VM box.

I have another crazy idea, but it involves eliminating x10 and plugging x10 port into a line port and have the line ring exts, and then go to AA. I am really only joking about the crazy idea, but from playing with the systems, I think it would work. I assume the VM type is correct, so the VM only has one AA available.

Just worked with a sales guy today in a similar situation.

PC Card Mail, Ext. 78 and 79

Transfer Return Extension for 78 set to 78, and 79 to 79.

Transfer Return Rings set to 4.

Selector Code 4 transfers to Calling Group 4 (Ext. 74), rings a group of extensions.

Call rings in group 4 times, returns to the VM port that sent it, gets message that says "Your party is not available. To transfer to another extension, press *8, extension number, and #"

Hmmm.... Changed Transfer Return Extension for 78 and 79 to 10. Call rings in group 4 times, then at Ext. 10, never covers to 10's voice mail, although 10 has a mailbox and VMS cover turned on.

OK, changed Transfer Return Rings to 0 (do not return). Call rings in group until answered or abandoned.

Tomorrow I plan to go back, loop a spare station to a spare CO port, put the station in the calling group, the CO line on a phone, and make the CO "line" be covered by the extension with VMS cover rings set to about 6.

Thank you for the help it is greatly appreciated . I guess I opted for the easy way out because the customer is 800mi. away . They will change their voicemail greeting to speak with someone immediately press * 8 then ext. 16 . That leaves me with one other problem. I am unable to log into the system . I've tried a U.S. Robotics 14.4 and other modems without success . I am searching for a Lucent Win modem and we'll try that . Thanks again .
