Hi,

I just recently got a new internet connection, with a speed of 100Mbits. :)

What sort of transfer rates should I be getting.

If I use a Download Accelerator, I get around 1000Kbs, and if I use Direct Connect to a friend that is also on the same 100Mbit ISP, we only get 1000Kbs between us.

Shouldnt we get a lot more than 1000? on a 100Mbit connection?

Thanks,

Rob D

Is the 100 Meg Full Duplex and Symetrical?

100 Mbit = 12 MByte

But if Upload is less than Download, you can't go faster than upload speed to another user of the same service.

If the service is half duplex then downloads pause while acknowledgements go upstream, depending on the protocol you used, every packet may need an ACK.

Does the ISP have a web site explaining the service?

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Another point, for High speed lines with High latency, which a 100Meg ISP connection would be, many OSes are not going to have sized the Receive buffers large enough.

DSLReports.com has a Tweak test to see if your OS has large enough buffers.
