One of my colleagues has a new PC using Outlook Express 6.
Her previous Pc was an old Windows 95 PC running Outlook Express 4(!).

We are trying to transfer/migrate the emails from the old PC to the new, without any success!

We have identifed the location of the mail files on both Pcs - but they seem to be slightly different in structure (I assume due to the difference in OE versions).

Can anyone advise how we can copy the mail folders and messages (of which there are thousands) from the old Pc to the new?

Any advice gratefully received!

Sorry, I should have mentioned, We have tried the 'file - import' option and selected the mail folder on the old PC but are told that either the directory does not contain mail messages or the files are in use (they are not).

Not sure about OE4 to OE6, but can you not simply copy the contents of C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{Incredibly-Long- Alpha-Numeric-String}\Microsoft\Outlook Express to the newly created OE equivalent path.

[Cheers]

Sorted!
If we copied the OE4 mail from the old PC to a directory on the new PC and THEN used File - Import it worked succesfully.
Odd.
Thanks all for the suggestions.
