Transfer disconnect

Hi all,
Many people in our company complained that when they transfer an outside call (using T1) to an other extension, as soon as they press Rls to transfer the call, the outside party is disconnected.
What might cause this?
Any input will be appreciated

did you try the join button before rls

does it get disconnected if you hangup?

Thanks for the reply senk1s,
However what they need to do is to transfer the call not to join so they use the programmed button for transfer F-70, The receptionist does this all the time with no problems.
