Transfer directly to voicemail

I have an avaya 8700 and am wanting to transfer some calls directly to voicemail. When I look at the Feature Access Codes there is a Transfer to Voice Mail Access Code:633
However, how would I do this? Just hit Transfer when on a call then 633, then the extension for voicemail? because when I do that I get the fast busy signal right after dialing 633.
If it is a change is cos, can anybody tell me which change I might need to make? Thank you.

Also, how do I find out what version of software I am running? I will post that if it will help.

Transfer to VM is used only when you are a coverage point of the person you want to transfer to VM, misleading,
that is the only time it will work,

If you want to transfer a call directly to voicemail by everyone in system, the work around is to transfer the call to the voicemail hunt group extension that is setup as the transfer port

to use you transfer to extension (transfer ext in VM) it will prompt you to enter extension number of extension you want to send to VM then transfer again, should go directly to that VM box
