Gurus,
What is the best way to transfer data from an AIX box to a remote AIX box.Definitely network is an option, but other than that. Please advice.

If you do not want to use the network then copy files to tape and post.

If network is the way to go then ftp is the way.

As my friend unclebrian said you can use Tapes or DVDs.

You can export the Hard disk or the VG by itself and import it into the other machine then do the copy!

or if you choose the network! and that's the command i always use when i do copying:

Code:
(first cd to the directory on the destination then do this)

rsh machine_name 'cd /directory_of_files; find . -print | backup -iqf -' | restore -xqvpf -

but after all it depends on how big is the amount of data you want to transfer! how big is your data?

Regards,
Khalid
