I purchased a restaurant about 2 years ago with an old Aloha 4.2x system that i have had to duct tape repair endlessly. The problems i have had with this system are just never ending, both hardware failures and software issues.

I am purchasing a complete 5.x system from a friend who's closing his doors.

My question is this:

What do i need to do in order to transfer all of my settings from the old system to the new one? Which files can I copy/paste.

So far the only things I can thing of are my amex/visa account info, my Menu's, Submenu's, and Items.

All of my ground (grinded?) sales logs from the past. (i know which files but can i just simply copy and paste them? or have the file formats changed?)

I'm sure there are other things that i should transfer that i am unaware of, or not thinking of.

Generally I copy everything in the aloha folder except the bin folder, bmp folder, profiles, and rptset. Do a dbconfig on both data and newdata. After that you should be good to go BUT with such a huge jump in versions you might run into some trouble. So back up the aloha folder on the newer aloha machine, and keep your reseller number handy. Good luck
