I have a 7.0 merlin legend w MLM card. I set up extensions 220,217.203,243,350,353 etc... in group coverage 1. I call in and the AA answers I then dial 350 and 353 and the voicemail boxes pickup.

I tried the 200's ext's and no answer just rings and rings and rings... I did a system reboot and now ext. 220 works and goes straight to voicemail??? It does have a DND button not sure if its on cause I'm doing it remotely.

I then removed ext. 350 from group coverage 1 and it still picks up VM when transfered??

The other extensions are setup for VM and as I remember worked/tranfered a few months ago.

The system is not grounded and has power outages and surges often.

Programming logic--not grounding--is likely the issue here. I sense that there are a lot of stories between now and the time this problem reared it's head.

Note that most phone systems are "finite state machines" (a.k.a.: they do EXACTLY what they're told to do and not much else). Having said that, it doesn't make sense that voicemail works for some extensions--but not others--unless a boot happens. If that's truly the case, then we're looking at broken voicemail and not a broken phone system as a whole.

Whether an extension picks up with voicemail directly or "after a few rings" is dependent on both programming and whether a real phone hangs off the programmed port. An awful lot of programming by that "somebody else" could have happened between now and the "couple of months ago" where you describe the phone system behaving properly. Let's not be distracted by that but instead just look at the facts.

Offer a few more details about what's REALLY going on and post back. We'll help you.

Thanks Tim, but I fixed my problem. I forgot to rotary enable my VM ports. Once I did that it the lights worked and calls transfer out of autoattendent to voicemail boxes.

Close tread...

Glad you got it fixed, but a "MLM card" is an 007 Merlin Legend Mail, and does not need its ports rotary enabled. Merlin Messaging does, however.

Its a Merlin Messaging VM. I didn't give the correct VM.
Thanks for the clarification Tommy.
