Article Title
How to set up so you can transfer directly to a voice mail greeting Publish Date
Apr-18-2006

Description/Symptoms
In order to transfer a caller directly into a mailbox user's greeting the following can be programmed.

Body/Solutions
For a typical transfer to a mailbox, a user has to go through the following keystrokes:
i> press the Transfer button
ii> dial the Voicemail Hunt Group number, followed by # key
iii> then the required mailbox number

To minimize the number of keystrokes for the transfer and to streamline the transfer, we have 2 possible solutions:

Note: It is just a matter of choice for solution A or B.

Solution A : using a voice hunt group

System Administrator must set up a voice hunt group *nnnn (where nnnn is the extension number) for each mailbox to be automated as follows:

a> Create a Voice hunt group of *nnnn where nnnn is the users mailbox/extension number and the Hunt group type for *nnnn must be Voice (not Phantom).

b> Call reroute always the new hunt group to the vmail pilot number.

From the 3300 end users perspective, end user can transfer the call directly to a mailbox as follows:
a> press the Transfer button
b> dial *nnnn ( eg. *1234)

Result: The external caller who can get transferred by 3300 end user will hear the user's greeting directly. Step i and ii ( from normal transfer scenario) are combined into one step of dialling *nnnn

Solution B: Using a phantom phone with PKM

System Administrator must set up a phantom phone with PKM and program as follows;
a> On each PKM key, assign a single line key with number *nnnn where n is the extension number
b> In Call rerouting assignment form, call reroute always each line *nnnn to the vmail pilot number
