Transfer call to Extension Off Premise

When we transfer calls to our maintenance department (that line is on a 008 OPT card and has its own circuit number), if the calls aren't picked up in 4 rings they return to the operator rather than going to voice mail. Is it possible to set this up so that transferred calls will go to voice mail rather than returning to the operator (as all other extensions do)?

We are using Merlin Legend 6.1

Put ext. in cover group for voice mail and make sure cover inside is turned on. Also check to see what the cover delay group cover is set for. Should be less than transfer return rings.
 
Thanks. I verified that the extension is in my cover group for voice mail and cover inside is turned on. I managed to figure out how to print an extension configuration in WINSPM (I'm VERY new at this phone biz) and compared my maintenance extension with another extension and found these differences:

On the Maintenance line, receive voice calls is set to OFF, Remote Forward Alow is set to NO and the group cover delay is set to 6 (other lines have it set to 2 or 3). Which of these do I need to change? And how to I go about making the change?

Plug a sl set into the port at the legend and call the operator and verify its the correct number. Then dial that ext. number and see what happens, should go to vm. If not try another port and put that # in cov group and see if it goes to vm. If it does renumber that to your ext #, then put your circuit in that port.
 
your transfer at 4 rings is taken prefrence over your group covage of 6 rings , with spm go to options, transfer ,and change it to 7, but relize it changes it for all stations , for return transfer
