I have a Definity G3 Version 8.1. We use Audix for voice mail. Our receptionist would like to transfer calls directly into a users voice mail if she knows that the user is unavailable or on the other line. What is the proper configuration to make this possible?

Thank you in advance for your help.

If the call rings to the user station first and then follows coverage to the attd then on the third page of 'disp fea' check 'Transfer to Voice Mail Access Code'. If call rings to attd first then it is a training issue to get users to press 'send-calls' when unavailable. For folks on the other line you can simply change the coverage path to forward for 'active' calls.

We've taken another approach for this: I have a station created (non-DID, X-port) with the coverage path set for 1 ring/VoiceMail. There is a corresponding Audix subscriber set up with the COS set to autoattd. The VM greeting states "enter the extension of the person you are calling". When the operator receives a call, and the caller wishes to be transfered directly into the VoiceMail system, the operator presses transfer, dials the VM Transfer extension, listens to the prompt and dials the appropriate extension, and completes the transfer. The caller is now at the voicemail main greeting for the individual they requested.

This works well for us, especially since several of our coverage paths first go to a cover answer group, etc., and have AUDIX as the second point of coverage.

Another little trick you can use within a work group or small office. I have administered a guest password on our Intuity Audix. Then setup some speeddials that dial the audix, enter the extension and the guest password. The covering person then just transfers the call to the speeddial and the person on the other end just gets "please leave a message for (whoever)" rather than the whole personal greeting. we use this in workgroups, the few who have the attendant as a coverage point get transfered using the transfer to audix feature.
