hi is there anyway to transfer a call to another party before it's been answered. Trunks used are ISDN.

I know this sounds silly but customer insists on being able to this kind of unsupervised transfer.

have played around with COS but no luck. I have an idea that it's cause the ISDN messaging has not yet given the call connected signal, hence it won't transfer.

Works on analogue trunks probably due to no answer supervision...

Mitelpassion - I would normally suggest call reroute always or trunk service assignment to redirect a call before it's answered, but as you have lots of experience on Mitel you would know that anyway. I must be misunderstanding your problem. Hmmmm

if you have a 5224 or 5324 (or newer sets with softkeys) and you have a divert programmed via the phone (but not active) when the call rings at the set above one of the soft keys will display 'forward' if you press this before answering it will forward the call to the programmed destination.

I might be reading this wrongly, do you want to manually tranfer a caller to a trunk to let them dial their own digits ? If so I too could not get this to work on PRI trunks in the UK but analog was fine, didnt get to the bottom of it in the but seem to remember Mitel said it couldnt be done on PRI.(prob the same for BRI)

Other then the "forward" option above. The answer is no.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Maybe more details?

Give us a call flow.

e.g.
Caller dials into system
Call rings phone
User presses "Mitel Magic" button
Caller is forwarded/routed/transfered to X

X will always be the same destination?

just read my post again and it really isn't very clear - sorry about that. I'll clarify

This is an outbound trunk call across PRI/BRI made on behalf of let's say a manager by the PA. She makes the call and even before it's answered, does she wanna transfer to the manager.

Logic tells me it can't be done, but I'm sure I did this years ago - or I'm mistaken. must have something to do with answer supervision.

thanks for the replies

No this cannot be done with outbound calls, there must be an established call for the transfer function to work(or hold, or flash, or ...). This would be true even if the call were internal and did not involve trunks. You might be able to fake it with analog trunk and reducing your pseudo-answer timer to zero but I wouldn't guarantee even that.
