Transfer CA to another server or DC?

I've pulled the CA off a server and ran DCPROMO. Can I put the CA back on the original DC? I have another server I can install it on but I also need to know if I need to remove all pointers to that old server name in the cert serv.reg backup I took or just the CAServerName entry?

All help is really appreciated.
